Winter 2026–27

This winter, Caja is still growing.

The vegetables we grow in Mills River are finding more paths to our neighbors’ tables through new partnerships. We've launched a partnership with MANNA FoodBank to provide fresh vegetables to neighbors through IAM. We're glad to connect our harvest with the work these partners do to help people access food.

We're also supplying vegetables to the amazing folks at Equal Plates Project and selling produce to Pisgah Bakehouse. It's exciting to know food grown here is becoming part of what these local kitchens prepare and share. Each partnership builds a connection between our farm and the people who feed our community. Together, we're creating more ways for locally grown food to reach the table. The first frosts have hit (10/20/2026) but we are still growing and harvesting. Currently we are harvesting: Turmeric, Lettuce, Arugula, Kale, Cabbage, Collards, Green Onions, Turnips, Beets, Cilantro, and Carrots.

One farm. Different pathways.

Some food is prescribed. Some is shared. Some moves through community partners. Some is sold through local businesses.

Food is Medicine

Most of what we grow is shared through our Food is Medicine programs, connecting locally grown food with people through healthcare and community partnerships.

Community partners

We share harvests with trusted nonprofit and community partners, including Interfaith Assistance Ministries and Migrant Farm Worker Fairs, helping locally grown food reach neighbors through organizations and gatherings already rooted in our community.

Local restaurants + stores

Some of our harvest also moves into the local food economy through partnerships with Pisgah Bakehouse and Mountain Foods. Contact us if you'd like us to grow wholesale food for your menu next season!

Follow the food from our farm to the many different people in our community who use food as medicine.
